Mens and Woman Comp

Mens and Womens social touch competition details:

The mens and womens social comp will commence on Tuesday 23rd of Jan 2018. As mentioned earlier, this will be a short 8week social competition with no finals or prizes. With this in mind, and to keep it social, the rules are as follows:

1. Each team must have a minimum of 10 players and a maximum of 14 players.
2. No more than 2 players can be under 25 years old.
3. Each team will be required to assist with refereeing when allocated duty team.
4. If a game is too one-sided, the committee reserves the right to designate the winning team at half time and then mix players of the two teams for the second half to keep in the spirit of a social/fun and enjoyable game for everybody.
5. If you are considering entering a super competitive “A’ grade level team, this is not going to be the competition for you – Berry and Nowra will more likely suit you – the aim here is to encourage new players and for everybody to enjoy a social game.
6. If you do not have a team, but would like to play, we are happy to organise a wild card team. Still register using the links below.
7. Teams are not required to have proper team shirts with numbers – all we ask is that your team has the same colour shirts on (e.g everyone wears some kind of red shirt). As it is social, we will not be worrying about shirt numbers.
8. Cost will be $40 per person.
9. While people have expressed interest in this competition, it will only go ahead if we are able to get a minimum of four teams for each group. If this is not the case, people will receive a full refund. If we only get numbers for females, then we will still run a female only comp, and visa versa for men.
10. Please register by Friday the 5th of January using the below links for male or female competitions.
11. More details to follow at a later date.

Competition Update

The first round has been completed and the Committee has reviewed the season draw, and ALL grades will remain the same. We will go through one more round before the finals.
Last game before Christmas will be 18 Dec 2017 and the first game back will be 15 Jan 2018.
For the finals teams finishing 1-4 in their grade will play for the A, B and C grade titles.
Teams finishing 5-8 in their grade will play for the A reserve, B reserve and C reserve grade titles.
Teams finishing 9th (last place) in their grade will miss out on Finals.
At this stage the Grand Finals should be 19 Mar 2018.
We understand some teams may be upset on the grades remaining the same but the committee has to take into account the WHOLE competition and a team may not win a game in their grade but they are still too good for the one below.
The wash out games will NOT be replayed as there is not enough weeks in the comp.

Grand Finals & Presentations

Well, it was raining, but the fields were in good condition, so the games went ahead.  Our minis played ten minute touch, enabling them to all play each other before presentations. Thank you to the Dingoes who joined the Wallabies for the afternoon and congratulations to all players on your improvements throughout the season. All players present received a participant’s trophy. Scores for the 10mintouch games were: Wallabies/Dingoes 2 def Dingoes 0, Parrots 2 drew Kangaroos 2, Kangaroos 1 def Dingoes 0, Wallabies/Dingoes 2 def Parrots 0, Dingoes 0 drew Parrots 0, Wallabies/Dingoes 1 def Kangaroos 0.

There were a few players missing from the 11 – 13 Grand Final teams, but this didn’t stop them from playing some exciting touch football. Congratulations Dragons on your 7-2 win over the Raiders.

In conditions that weren’t exactly the best for touch football the 14-17s played their Grand Final in a very competitive manner. There were some well constructed tries, spectacular diving slides and a display of improved skill and tactics. The teams were very closely matched, scoring the same amount of tries, the difference being the amount scored by female players for Eels, giving them a 12-6 win. Congratulations Eels and to all players in this division on the way you played this competition.

A big thank you was given to the referees for the competition, Jackie and Alysha (minis), Alicia, Tom and CJ (11-13s) and Kath S, Bones, Greg, Nat and Andrew (11-13s & 14-17s). Michelle and he Power family were also thanked for the endless hours of support for the comp, the committee and the canteen, We wouldn’t have a club without them. Next year a new committee will take the reins and we all look forward to next season. 2018 nominations and registrations will start in July/August, so keep an eye out for notifications.
