Well done 18s Girls. Lots of great touch, improvements, learning & fun finishing with a big brave effort, going down in the semi final against the eventual winners, Wagga Vipers. Thank you to the Milton Ulladulla girls for joining our team to help us get to the tournament and fitting in so well. The highlight of the day was April Hawkins scoring her first try ever AND it was against Wagga! Congratulations Zac Stahlhut, playing with Milton Ulladulla and making the grand final of the 18s boys. Unfortunately our 16s boys team withdrew at the eleventh hour.

Congratulations to Alysha Adams, Jackie Milani & Terri Milani, all named in the Southern Suns 18s Girls squad for the NSW Junior Regionals to be held in 2018. The girls will now attend a selection camp in Yass on the 18th & 19th of November where the squad will be cut from 23 to 18. This 18 will then cut to a team of 14 and 4 shadows just prior to the tournament at the end of April. Best of luck girls.

The minis’ passing and sharing of the ball is starting to develop as they learn more about the game, well done on some great tries this week kids, also some great chasing and touches in defence. Parrots 4 drew with Kangaroos 4, Dingoes 4 def Wallabies 1.

Some high energy and exciting tries in the 11-13 yrs division were noticed this week. Knights 8 def Raiders 2, Dragons 7 def Sea Eagles 5.

Sharks recorded their first win of the season, their persistent defence, leadership from rep player, Alysha Adams and team play giving them the rewards. Storm and Eels battled out a cracker of a game, which produced some amazing tries and desperate defence lead by senior players Thomas Power and Alicia Sleeman for Storm and rep players Jackie Milani & Zac Stahlhut for Eels Storm. Congratulations to Connor Johnson on scoring 2 spectacular tries. Sharks 6 def Cowboys 0, Storm 6 def Eels 5.

We have 2 teams going to Walker Park, Yass for the Junior Regional Tournament and Southern Suns Trials – 16’s Boys and 18’s Girls. We are short one referee, so we are offering $100, plus fuel expenses to a level one referee, or above, who can ref for our club in Yass for the day, Sunday, 5th November. The Boys play 3 pool games, with their first game at 9.oo am against Milton Ulladulla, followed by 11.00 am v Young and 1.00 pm v Yass. Semi finals are at 3.30 pm with the Grand Final at 5.30 pm. Minis have have now dropped the 2 pass rule and the round 5 games were very close. In round 6 we continued with the no running back rule and started working on the acting half role to share it around and keep players spread out. Subbing does prove difficult for some teams and it is really helpful when parents volunteer, so thank you to parents who take that on. Your coaching is also very much appreciated. REP TOUCH Sunday 5th November in Yass.

We are looking for more players to nominate for rep in the following divisions to send teams to Yass for the Southern Suns Regional Championships and trials on the 5th of November: U14 Boys, U14 Girls and U16 Boys.

The U18 Girls team has been selected and will train with Kath Milani after the holidays. Unfortunately there are not enough in the U18 Boys to send a team.

Congratulations on a great start everyone. The minis (8-10’s) Meet and Greet went well with trial games played in good spirit. Although there were some great tries scored, no points were recorded. Next weeks games will start at 5.30 with points recorde from now on.

11-13’s games were of a high quality and both quite close. Dragons 7 defeated Sea Eagles 6 and Raiders 9 defeated Knights 6.

14-17’s  games were entertaining with Storm 8 beating Eels 5 and Cowboys 11 beat Sharks 4.

Thanks to everyone for signing up for rep. The sheets will be out again next week for anyone who didn’t sign up that would like to trial.
